林孝庭博士簡歷：
1971年生，英國牛津大學東方學部博士、英國皇家亞洲學會院士，曾任美國加州大學柏克萊分校東亞研究所博士後研究員、美國舊金山大學環太平洋研究中心傑出訪問學者，現為美國史丹佛大學胡佛研究所研究員、胡佛檔案館東亞館藏部主任。
專研近代中國政治與外交史、中外關係史、冷戰時期東亞政治、台美關係、台灣外交、政治與軍事史等。
主要論著有Tibet and Nationalist China’s Frontier: Intrigues and Ethnopolitics, 1928-49; Modern China’s Ethnic Frontiers: A Journey to the West; Accidental State: Chiang Kai-shek, the United States, and the Making of Taiwan; Taiwan, the United States, and the Hidden History of the Cold War in Asia: Divided Allies、"困守與反攻:冷戰中的台灣選擇"、"意外的國度: 蔣介石、美國、與近代台灣的形塑"、"蔣經國的台灣時代" 等中、英文專書，以及其他中、英、日文學術期刊論文、專書章節、史料彙編、百科全書條詞、評論文章與譯作等百餘篇。
